Search Options

The Search Options panel under the Content tab enables fine-tuned control over how search functionality behaves across your website. These settings are designed to balance flexibility and performance, ensuring relevant results for users while aligning with your site’s structure.

  • Post Types: Select the post types to include in search results.
  • Categories/Tags/Terms: Specify taxonomies to filter content. You can input relevant categories, tags, or custom terms to narrow results. Example: Add “Tutorials” to ensure only content tagged accordingly is shown.
  • Relation: Defines how terms relate when filtering: Any Term: Shows results that match any selected term. All Terms: Show results that match all terms.
  • Trigger Search: Control how the search activates besides when the search button is pressed:
    • Enter Key Trigger: Initiates search on key press (enabled by default).
    • Live Typing Trigger: Fires search dynamically while typing (disabled for performance).
  • Character Threshold: Set the minimum number of characters before a search begins. Default: 3 characters. Helps reduce server load and accidental queries.
  • Relevanssi Support: Enable integration with Relevanssi, default is disabled to prioritize native compatibility, for advanced search capabilities like fuzzy matching, improved relevance sorting, and custom weighting.
